Rochester Quadra-Jet - Idles Too Fast
Just rebuilt my Quadra-Jet and now the minimum idle speed is about 900 RPM. Idle screw is backed all the way out. Choke fast idle not engaged.
Everything seemed to go back together OK with a new carb kit...Float level adjusted to spec., etc. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? |

Have you checked your timing? Maybe it was advanced a little to help make up for half plugged jets.

My bet is on vacuum leak, probably the primary throttle shaft. Gunk builds up in there and them when you clean it up for a rebuild it allows air to get sucked in where the gunk used to be.
