Drag racing my 73 Stepside

I am about to drag race my 73 Stepside but I need some direction in the suspension department. I have a 4/6 drop on my truck now. Looking for someone who can help and show me how to get this truck to hook up so I can win a few passes. Hoping to find someone who races their truck. I want to get a real good launch off the line, can anyone help thanks pics are coming soon

Re: Drag racing my 73 Stepside

is it a positraction? that would be first thing to do. Next, find a rear sway bar off a dually or 1 ton truck. I installed one off a late 90's Ford dually and let me tell you, hook on a dirt pile....oh! clamp the front leafs together..ala mopar trick...works

Re: Drag racing my 73 Stepside

I looked them up and my part number is Cal tracs 3900 I think and its not bad for 400 bucks. Do they really work though, I am getting ready to race my buddy he has lakewood traction bars, 90/10 shocks trying to get him. he has a beast for the heart. Trying to have the edge but he hooks up though, thinking about installing a limited slip locker 373's or 411's in my 12 bolt.

We wouldn't be suggesting them (Cal tracs) if they didn't.

They are far superior to lakewoods

Re: Drag racing my 73 Stepside

dont you get the most benefit from caltracs if you have 450 Plus hp & a lot of torque. I have the cheapo lakewoods & probably have around 350 -375 to the rear wheels with a 3.42 gear . --more street than strip - . but occasionally Igo to the track & for what Igot I dont think a 300.00 difference in price would make that much of a difference in my launch . Yea if you have some serios hp get caltracs , but in my opinion would be a waste of money otherwise .
