polishing anodized alum. pieces?
tried to perform a search on past threads on this subject but nothing too helpful.if i remember right has'nt someone mentioned b-4 to use oven cleaner to remove the old tarnished anodizing? can anyone help me w/ this,i'm gonna start this as my next project being as how i got me a new buffer wheel and pedestal last wk. i would like to do the headlight,taillight bezel's and grill pieces tomorrow afternoon.

oven cleaner will take the anodized coating off. i used this method, & scrubbed with scotchbrite to take the coating. my grill was pretty rough(nicks,digs & pitted). i started sanding with 180 grit, after bumping & filing some of the bad spots. I have worked down to 600 grit, & polished with some Eagle1 paste for Alum wheels. The grill is back on the truck, & much better .....but needs to be worked down with 800 or 1000 grit & polished a little more. once the coating is removed, you will need to rub it from time to time with Mothers, or eagle1. If you find an easier way.....please share the info! Good luck,crazyL

does anyone else have any ideas on how to remove the anodizing on alumnium?w/the snow emergency goin' on i'll prolly get a ticket if i go to the store and get some oven clnr. we got a dumpin' of snow 7" yesterday w/5-10" more expected.
