6.0 Swap?

Has anyone put a 6.0 in a 60-66 truck out of a 1999-2010 chevy truck yet? I have been wanting to do a stock swap. Does anyone know where I could get a simple universal harness for the swap?

Re: 6.0 Swap?

My friend bought one of the harnesses off a guy's eBay company for $420. I know it''s eBay and it's a pretty cheap price but it actually turned out to be a pretty nice harness. I'm doing a 6.0 swap right now as well. Haven't gotten it running yet but I can try to help out with any info you might need.

Re: 6.0 Swap?

Mc,

I am putting a 2005 6.0 LS2 truck motor in my 65.

In the old days the first rule of engine swapping was to make the engine think it was still in the car it came out of. Probably more true today than then.

With that in mind I am using the stock harness and making everything stock that I can. I am leaving out the gas tank vapor return system, and of course deleting the VATS. But that is about it. At least that is the plan. I bought the service manual for the truck the engine came out of so that gives all the wiring diagrams, pin-outs, diagnostics etc.

Fire in the hole early July I think. Here is how it looks today but I should have the water lines finished tonight, then finish exhaust and PS resevoir.

Good luck,

TR

Re: 6.0 Swap?

Is that air cleaner setup on top of a truck intake? Or a car intake? Whats the "box" that makes it work look like.

Re: 6.0 Swap?

68,

It is on top of a truck manifold. I will put up a thread on how the plenum is made directly. I wanted the classic look of 14" round air cleaner, not one of those cone headed things.

Re: 6.0 Swap?

I like the oldskool look too...as my LSx (re-cam'd '08 LY6) will be carb'd and I've got a 14" anodized aluminum plain top GMPP air cleaner to go on top. The MSD 6LS-2 will provide fire.
