whats the best and most efficant air cleaners for 350SB?

It seems like everyone has an opinion about what to use on the engine to make it breath better but what should you take into consideration when making a purchase? any pictures and input would be great folks

The more "cool" air you can get in the better.

There is quite a bit of room under the hood so you could go with a 14" round, with a 4"-6" tall filter and an x-stream powerflow lid (or something similar). That would allow a lot of air in.

I am not a fan of the K&N, so I run AEM dryflow filters. This is what I am running right now but might move up to the 5" or 6.25" if I have room.

Well, here's another question that goes along with that: my 350, when I bought it, came with an 11" cleaner assembly. Is the 14" stock, and if so, where is the best place to find a decent one?

lots of choices depends on conditions//dirtroad,desert dust ,oaktree leaves, pine needles, moisture content all and lots more go into the choice alot more than just crammin air like some suggest

Most air cleaners of any quality will filter out dirt road dust, and certainly oak tree leaves and pine needles. Certain conditions like you mentioned (although I don't know about oak tree leaves and pine needles...haha), should be taken into consideration with your maintenance of your filter. Cdowns, maybe you could elaborate and give some suggestions based on different conditions to hoodup as I think that's what he was looking for. What are you running on your truck cdowns?

I personally like the K&N type filters that can be washed and re oiled, then replaced back into a snorkel type housing.
Open element set up's are good to, but like mentioned before you have to take into consideration the use of the rig.

This reminds me of a time when I was running one of those ridiculous Edlebrock "pro flow" bug eye air cleaners on a 4x4 I use to own, I took it off of my Camaro since I had nothing handy at the time.
Went off road in the truck, first big puddle of water I crashed through - it was like someone threw an anchor out the back of the bed.
The engine was doing high RPM, and managed to suck in a big gulp of water. Which hydraulic the motor, and found later there were two snapped con rods. Oh, and a forged aluminum piston forced sideways in it's cylinder bore... Ahh good times!

I use to run this K&N on my burb, but now I run a GM dual snorkel unit.
The K&N can be had just about anywhere, and my dual snorkel unit I got from Classic Industries. It's actually for a 65 Chevelle or Impala I think.

For a DD that sees dirt/gravel roads OCCASIONALLY. Would something like vectorits but with the lid thats an airfilter work too? (I think they look cool!). and where could I get a dual snorkel air box at?

Yeah, their pricey... and for a stock motor like mine, it's pretty much just for looks, hence the reason I haven't got one yet.

Naw, cool air makes a huge difference in responsiveness and consistancy from day to day. Mine is routed to draw air from a hole I made in the core support, it runs alot better than sucking underhood air. All I have is a goodwrench 350 with an edelbrock manifold and headers
