Smile lowered longbeds

If you have pics of lwb trucks lowered about 2.5/4" then post them here please. Also can I use 1/2 ton drop spindles on my 3/4 ton or are they different? Thanks

you can use 1/2 ton dropped spindles......if you swap the lower a arms, ball joint assy, & the outer tierod ends. You will be converting to 5 lug, & also need rotors.....crazyL

I would be interested in that side shot.

What size tires and wheels are you running? I am curious to know what mine will look like. I hope to have the lowering kit this week, but won't have the truck back together for awhile to get a feel of how it will look.

Here's a pic of mine (doctored a little). I wanted to get a feel for what the truck would look like lowered. I can't decide if I want to cut the frame and make it a shortbed or not. I don't know what the drop is because it's an altered image. Hope it gives you and idea though.

I personally think that longbeds look the best anyway. Especially with the 69-72 hoods. I only like shortbeds on 67's and 68's. Again though, I prefer the longbeds on those years too. But that's just me I guess.

sixnine,

Thanks. I hope that Hotrod answers, then maybe I can have someone photoshop it for me in Hugger orange. For now I am going to run 15x8 rally wheels with chrome rings and 265s. I stipped all the chrome off, and welded all the holes, but it will give me a good idea of finished product.

Sixnine, I'm in the same boat as you are. I want to heavily customize my truck though. It's getting an airbag suspension and 22" rims. I was wondering how damn dumb the SWB would look with 22's, ya know? I like that photoshop of your truck, but hacking it couldn't hurt either.

This is a photo shop mock-up (Thanks Carter Hickman) that is very close to 2 1/2 drop spindles, 2" drop springs and 4" drop spings in the rear that I am after.

Hey Crank,

It sounds like we have the same idea. If I end up leaving it a longbed, I'll put 22"s on the rear with 20's on the front. I too think the 22's will be out of proportion on a shortbed. They should look just right on a longbed though. The larger rims on the back will help balance out the whole vehicle. Keep me posted on your ride. I'll show updates of mine when I can. Good luck.............

Heres 2.5"front and 4 " rear with spindles and rear springs. It sits level with same size tires on all 4 but I have 225/75's front and 285/70's rear and that gives it a rake.

This reminds me.....i was browsing through the JC Whitney catalog, and i found a set of little brackets that they said would either lower or rasie the ride heights on a coil spring vehicle by 2-3/4 inches. They are basicly a piece of pipe cut in half, and the go between two parts of the spring and either compress or expand it. I am skeptical that they would have some negative side effects....but it would be nice to lower my truck for $20 without swapping coil springs.........
