1969 K10 rear axle
I need some help. I decided to change the oil in my rear end after I finished installing my new crate motor and came across a mess. 1 outer seal is seeping, inner and outer bearing have alot of wear. The axle shafts are grooved and and need replaced. Are all 1967-1972 rear axle shafts the same? I am trying to get a shopping list together for the auto parts store tomorrow. Any information on what years are interchangeable is appreciated.

Re: 1969 K10 rear axle
I believe axel shafts on '67-69 are an inch shorter on each side - I know '67 and '68's are, but not 100% sure on '69.

Re: 1969 K10 rear axle
Its confusing. Some websites show 65-69 axles are the same and other web sites show 67-81. Some say 30 5/8, 30.75 or 31 7/16. I will have to do some measuring myself I was hoping someone may have done this project and had a part number. I was going to try the U pull it yard tomorrow but they don't have any 65-69, but they have several late 70 to early 80's that I was hoping might interchange.

Re: 1969 K10 rear axle
67-69 axles are the same length. 1970 was a change year and the axles could be the same length as the 67-69 axles or they could be the same length as the 71-72 which are 3/4" longer.
Have you considered getting some good used ones? Jim

Re: 1969 K10 rear axle
The U pull it yard doesn't have any 67-69 so I am looking to rebuild it with all new parts. I am heading to the shop to measure and make some phone calls.

If it helps any, 65-66 shafts are the same length and splines as 67-69.

Re: 1969 K10 rear axle
I have a 69 K10 rear axle I'm not using. I'd sell parts off of it to you if that'll work for you?
