Tilting bed
Anyone ever thought thru the process of making a tilting S/B bed for our trucks? I see they make linear electrical actuators that lift 500lbs 24". Which would be plenty of ump not sure 24" would be high enough. I seen an older P/U with a tilt bed in a mag, but no info how it was setup. Any pics or ideas to accomplish this with out spending big bucks?

Re: Tilting bed
you could use an air bag mounted toward the rear of the bed. A friend did this on his Toyota truck.

Re: Tilting bed
There are and have been tilt bed kits available for a long time on the aftermarket. Normally a commercial use item. I don't remember any company names off hand. Hydraulics normally used. I bet a little search will turn up something.

Re: Tilting bed
24 inches should be plenty of lift, you would have to trig. out the placement from your finished height is all. the other thing would be to figure out your hinges (bumper may need to be moved or swing as well) then find the height you like and then position your actuator. you will find that the mounting point on the frame will only be a few inches in front of the mounting point on the bed. I am sure there are on-line trig. calculators that you could use to find different angles and the mounting points of the actuator. i have done one using hyd. but electric would be fine.

Re: Tilting bed
Lots of mini trucks out there with this mod.Should be able to search some of their forums and find some info on what they did/used.Then adapt to fit your measurements and style.

Re: Tilting bed
I have worked this out in my brain. Using a pair of airshocks, modified custom brackets. My research will have plenty of pics once I start this. And will attempt this on the next project. Since math wasn't my best subject the trial and error and tape measure will be my best friend. Thanks for everyones input.
