Power Steering box on a '67
Has anyone done this? If so, what modifications did you have to do to the frame in order for it to fit?
Thanks |

I'm lazy when it comes to typing, so here's a short-cut to another recent thread discussing this:

Re: Power Steering box on a '67
Thanks a lot!
I ended up cutting out the place where it would bump and trimmed down the radiator bracket. Do yall think a curved plate needs to be welded on the backside or will it be good as is considering this isn't a high stress point in the frame? |

Re: Power Steering box on a '67
I addressed that issue on my 67 panel project... Here is a link: http://www.classicheartbeat.com/67_panel_project.htm
Read through it and you will see what I did. WES

Re: Power Steering box on a '67
I used a box out of a 76' truck, and it was a straight bolt in. I only had to notch one of the bumper support brackets a little and that was it.

Re: Power Steering box on a '67
My 67 had power steering on it when I got it. The frame rails don't look modified in any way.
Was this just an option and the right gear box is hard to find or what?

Re: Power Steering box on a '67
The 67s didn't have the indentation because their power steering used a manual steering gear and have the ram assist power steering set up. It is when GM went to the integral gear that the gear got larger and required the indentation in the frame. WES
