A Arm 3"Drop spindle= problem

I installed the A arms from my 77 with bell tech 3" drop spindles on my 67. I hate to admit this but I thought I would put my 15 wheels back on just so I could get an idea of how the truck would look and be able to move it. The 15 inch rim hits the bottom arm. The rims I was thinking about using are the 16 inch Chevy rally wheels but I am not sure if they will fit without hitting the bottom A arm. If a 16 inch will fit I will but the rims and mount some old tires I have for now. Thanks for any input.

Re: A Arm 3"Drop spindle= problem

This is normal.
Trim the a-arm around the lower ball joint.
They only cause problems with 15" wheels that have more than 3.5" of backspacing.
Ralleys have a 4" BS.
I've been doing this same mod since the early 1980's.
This is why there are 2.5" drop spindles.

Do they even make 16" 5-lug ralley wheels or do you have 6-lug rotors?

Re: A Arm 3"Drop spindle= problem

I put 5 lug rotors and rear axles on the truck. I have always used Bell tech spindles and they do not come in 2.5, at least not from Summit. Oh Well looks like a little modification... no big deal. Thanks again.

Re: A Arm 3"Drop spindle= problem

I like using Belltechs 3" drop spindles as well.
Modifying the lower a-arm takes less than 5 minutes per side.
Some other brand spindles require you to grind in areas around the calipers.
Checking wheel clearance is a must for any drop spindle install.

Got any pics of your truck?

A spacer corrected this for me.
