1bbl Rochester... fustrated need help.
Im a new member and new to the Carburator game. I have a 1bbl Rochester Model B in My 63 c-10 (292ci). The way the person had the linkage before couldnt have been the correct way, there was wire wrapped everywhere just to keep tension on the lever where the manual choke connects.. Can someone post any pictures on how its supposed to look. Or point me in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response Irish1966, I actually saw some of your other pics and was going to email you about them.
Okay so where the lever is to open the choke valve there is another small lever that allows it to close again. on the outside of it.. where is the tension coming from to push these levers back and forth. I will take photos of how mine looks tomorrow so you can see what Im talking about.

Re: 1bbl Rochester... fustrated need help.
here are two pics I found that I took the other day. You can see the wire wrapped around the area of the choke valve lever. Also a homeade bracket to hold the choke cord in place ..
I'll post better ones tomorrow...

If you need the proper bracket for your choke cable I have one.

I'm new to these 6's. The P/O had it setup that way, and she runs good. So far, I have learned that most of these motors I have looked at have funny little things that farmers/owners had done to keep them running. LOL. I am open to learning as much about them as possible. Where should the return spring be mounted. Also, this particular motor appears to not have complete bolts at either end of the manifold. Were these motors designed with locating studs or did someone just snap em off and never fixed it?

Re: 1bbl Rochester... fustrated need help.
Irish. The spring hooks onto the arm on the firewall and the other end hooks through the end of the pin that the pivot bracket attaches to. The spring holds the bracket to the pin. Yours probably has a cotter key there now. Won't hurt to run it like you've got now. You might need a different spring if you changed it back to stock.
The end pins on the manifold where locating pins but can be removed and some threaded studs installed. Mine where studded for headers. |

Thx lads. I really appreciate the input. Sorry 63AROD. I didn't mean to hijack ur thread. Oh and the part number for the rebuild kit for these carbs is Napa no. 2-5194A if you ever need it. My buddy is gifted with these old carbs and he has rebuilt both of mine to run sweet.

Re: 1bbl Rochester... fustrated need help.
the more pics the better. I also noticed the shiny film on ur valve covers on the carb side. I just noticed that the rubber bung on mine towards the front of the valve covers is leaking a little oil and it is running along the base of the covers. Does yours do the same?

Re: 1bbl Rochester... fustrated need help.
Yeah mine leaks too. I figured it was the gasket so i went and got one. Just have not put it on yet. Ive been replacing things here and there, radiator, water pump, hoses, battery, fuel filter (2 times) my gas tank has crap in there so the filter is getting clogged. I got a new tank that will mount up in the rear of the bed so i will be putting that on soon. My connection for the exhaust to the manifold is also leaking. So now that im taking this carb off im going to dive into that manifold and take that off and re-drill the third bolt hole, its hard to get to while its hooked up. Its my daily driver so i have to work fast.hahah.

Re: 1bbl Rochester... fustrated need help.
I got this one in a deal on Ebay. It came with a Clifford valve cover. I didn't need it at the time so I gave it to hb32 (santadan again) When I bought the 65 from him I got the intake back.
Only problem with an Offy. Carb needs to be mounted sideways. Clifford intakes let you mount the carb normally. I mounted the Holley 350 with the float bowl towards the VC. Easier to run fuel line around the back with the vacuum hose. More room for the linkage outboard too. Crap!!! Highjackin' Again. SORRY |

Re: 1bbl Rochester... fustrated need help.
thx lads. I see what the PO did with the return spring. It doesn't surprise me though. The exhaust leaked really bad when I bought it. Turns out they had put the flange on backwards and tried to put a donut in the big gap. LOL.
