Brake Booster - Dead
Hey All,
New guy here. I picked up a '64 K25 with a 327 transplant a few weeks back. It's a pretty solid truck but at this point, I'm just bringing it back to driver condition. The brake booster is dead. I suspect a leaking diaphragm as it offers no assist and the engine RPM raises every time I step on the pedal. Any of you guys been able to find parts and rebuild your booster or should I just start looking for a reman? Thanks , Q |

Re: Brake Booster - Dead
Welcome to the forum
I would suggest just buying a reman unit. I myself have not had a booster apart, but I do know there is a spring inside that needs to be compressed for disassembly and reassembly.

Re: Brake Booster - Dead
I have a remanufactured Cardone unit if you are interested. Bought it for my truck, then got hold of an original for 63. PM me if your interested.

Re: Brake Booster - Dead - Update
Well, finally got her fixed today.
Looking up the brake booster by application wasn't working for me. I could not find a listing specifically for a '64 K20. The '64 K20 had the "horizontal bracket" BTW. I ended up getting a Cardone 50-3535. Rebuilt booster and MC combo for $99 at O'Reilly. (+$40 core). It's listed for C10/C20/C30. http://cardone.com/English/club/memb...PARTNUM=503535 It bolted right on. Perfect fit. Hope this helps someone in the future. Thanks guys. Q
