Anyone Convert to these?
I've had my eye on them for a while but not had the guts to buy them. I'd like to take the front park/turn cans out for a cleaner look but.... If you're running these, take a pic and let me see.

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
Are the parking lights LEDs? If not, are they visible at night with the lamps on?
I could only find the autoloc version of these on Amazon where it received a bad review due to a finger print on the inside of the housing that could not be removed. I was planning on buying these: http://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail/15610.html They are spendy, but have LEDs for the parking lamps which I need to use as turns so they HAVE to be visible. I could not find a Hella version searching the web either.

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
You have to grind a little bit for the bulb on the bottom to clear, not too bad. The lites hook up to your existing wires. You can run them as turn signals or running lights but not both.

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
That just put a damper on the fire under my ass to get those styles of lights. I'm sure there are some out there that are park/turn, but for the price on the ones I have been looking at I will just stick with the stock look for now

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
Why can't these LED lights or even the incandescent one have both?

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
its all in the type of bulb thats in there. Most likely the incandescent bulb is a 194 bulb. There is only one filliment in that bulb, so it can only do one thing.

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
I don't know about these but be careful some are 100% plastic and don't have a glass front. Just some questions to answer before you are disappointed in the quality of the product.

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
almost all of them are plastic these days. There's a lot more to be worried about besides that though. I have bought 3 sets of assemblys like thse. (not the exact style, but the style that accepts late model bulbs) Of the 3 sets, NONE of them projected light as well as an old sealed beam. All 3 sets had a DOT stamping on them, but I highly doubt ANY of them are actually certified.
Before spending any money on any of them, find people who have them on there cars/trucks, and talk to the owners. If you drive at night, or even more so if it is a daily driver, this is important. Find out how well they light up the road. Some are awesome and a million times better than a sealed beam, others, are craptastic at best. |

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
The ones that I have seem to be very bright at night, more so than the old headlights. You are right in that all the new cars seem to have plastic headlights that also seem to get cloudy too.

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
i ment to say that. The fogging of the plastic is the only real drewback of plastic... and not all of them do that.

Re: Anyone Convert to these?
The ones I have in my truck has a single bulb at the bottom for the turn signal they are all glass the bulb that is used for the headlight is a universal style bulb that you can upgrade to a higher candlepower I actually ordereed mine with an upgraded bulb and chose not to use it due to it being too blue for my liking.
