KYB Gas Shock ??

I’m looking at KYB Gas shocks from ECE for my 70

They have 2
#02-7510 GR2 Rear Drop
#02-7515 Self adjusting Shock.

KYB GR2 contains less nitrogen gas charge, therefore, is a softer riding shock. The Gas-A-Just has twice the nitogen pressure, so it is stiffer and provides better handling.

Anybody have either one of these?? How do you like them?

Thanks in advance
Steve

Re: KYB Gas Shock ??

I have the Gas-A-Justs. They are very firm. I'd go with the GR-2's. My truck is a C-20 FWIW.

Re: KYB Gas Shock ??

You can get the same shock part number 344068- whole thread on them on suspension forum around page 6, from Advance for $30 apiece- they should be a stock item. The GR2 are softer and not as hard on parts as the gas adjust- they tend to break front mounts on c10 according to the thread. I just installed 4 on my 68 and am happy with the way the truck rides now, not too soft but not harsh either.

You know what brand that part number is?? (Monroe possibly) I don’t have an advanced Auto Parts in my neck of the woods
Also Suspension forum only goes to page 5???? and just to be clear you have the GR2's right??

Thanks for the Info

Re: KYB Gas Shock ??

The page # is 9 in suspension forum, think you went to suspension FAQ. Original post was made by jared78 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network > General Truck Forums > Suspension
kyb shocks/ part numbers
The number is actually a kyb number stamped into the body, if you will search kyb online you will find several dealers/outlets that stock everything that the company offers. I bought my rear set from one of them and with shipping paid $70 for the pair to the door, shocks were like $28 each, but shipping ended up costing as much as tax but they came very quickly. If you take the number, there may be a monroe cross that will work and actually be on the shelf at the parts store. Hope this helps, Harold

Re: KYB Gas Shock ??

my gr2 rear drop shocks (5" springs) are stiff, while my stock height gas adjust fronts (with 2.5" spindles + 1" springs) are pretty soft. This might not help at all

Re: KYB Gas Shock ??

I just purchased the KYB Gas Adjust today. I saw some posts about them being too stiff for a C10 and breaking the shock mounts. The truck will only see normal hauling duty and driving. Would I be better off with a softer shock?

Re: KYB Gas Shock ??

I have gas adjust's on my 72 4x4 blazer and they ride just fine but the 4x4 weighs a little bit more took my blazer to the scales and it was 4360 lbs.
Hope this helps
