Ah yes the 1980 camper shell shortage, I remember it well. It was the year of the terrible aluminum weevil.

Thats funny

It may be the 32x80x15 tires. They're quite rare, I've only seen a few of them in person....

Re: What makes this "Rare"

That must be one of the "joys" of living in CA, around here there would not be any "back fees" when the vehicle is sold.
I have heard that there is if you attempt to re-register a vehicle that stays in the same name, but I have never experienced it myself?

It all sounds like it should be illegal to me...Why should you have to pay "road use" taxes on a vehicle that was not using the road?

Now if it was 1994 there wouldnt be fees because here if its not registered for 10 years it goes off of DMVs records. This truck has been on for a while

That's true... I don't mind them though since every Z'd out truck makes mine worth more every day... Especially when that trend is over....

really?? when was the last time you were in cali?? i was born and raised in san diego, my parents have been here since the 60's, my dad has always had classic cars and trucks, and they have never been a "funky" color on anything other than stock stealies. dont stereotype CA. deep down inside, everyone wants to be from here.

Re: What makes this "Rare"

Sorry not that rare. I have one too. Rare may be that antenna hole drilled through the fender.

Wierd is that $487 in back fees. Mine is $94 for the year. I should just pay mine six years late and save. Worse yet I non-oped it for $18. Yes in California we pay not to operate our vehicles. Then the neighborhood watch comes along and says that truck has been parked in the driveway for ever.

Re: What makes this "Rare"

I had to ask him why it was so rare....... This is what his answer was to me.

This Truck is rare because of it's age, its structure, and its ENGINE and runeing gears, .You don't see anymore with this motor. Its RARE Check it out. Thanks Mr Henderson.

And I was still thinking it was the "Alluminum" camper shell. Most are just made from plain aluminum.

Re: What makes this "Rare"

Yes ..... rare indeed .... inline 6 cylinder engines were few & far between .... and SOOOOO desirable - in todays collector market. Plus only needing a battery & some ignition problems - WOW what a deal. SUPER RARE.

I'm calling for shipping quotes now!!!!!!

Re: What makes this "Rare"

Haha we're not but with c.a.r.b. And all the other emissions and tag and title related stuff you guys have to go through (I know from the horror stories I hear on this board) it's not a car friendly place and I'm sure some people dislike that fact, I am on the other side of the country so I don't really care but it's fun every once in a while to poke fun at how ridiculous things can get sometimes

Re: What makes this "Rare"

C.a.r.b. is a bunch of dictators that have lost touch with reality. 16 grand for a muffler!! They are killing diesel and older cars and truck as we know em. I lied the only other state I would go to would be Oregon.

Re: What makes this "Rare"

I just paid $57.00 to renew the tags on my S-10, would have been $37.00 but I have personalized plates.

We (Virginia) have annual safety inspections, $16.00.

No taxes or just because we feel like it fees. LOL.
