new seal & wind noise
Has anyone out there replaced their door seals and noticed a big difference in the reduction of wind noise ? I was just cruising down the freeway and the noise was getting really annoying. Then again I don't have a stereo yet to kill off that noise. Just wondering if it makes a huge difference. mine is a Jimmy but any comments are welcome. Thanks Dan

I think that replacing the seals and door gaskets is a start in reducing cab noise. Installing insulation on the floor, followed by carpet, is a biggee. Replacing the weatherstrips on the outside of the windows, as well as the fuzzee strips on the inside, plus the window channel components, will all help reduce wind noise. Adjustments to the door and the door opening, aimed at making the fit tighter and more precise, will also have an effect. Stopping up all of the un-needed holes in the firewall, and installing a new piece of insulation will help. Adding some insulation to the inside of the doors, like Dynamat, should help. A headliner will also help.
So, it isn't just the weatherstriping at the door frame, it also is everything else related to weatherstripping and keeping the outside, outside. You could get your truck so airtight, that you'd have to crack a window partly open just to get the door shut. Wouldn't that be nice?

I second what ChevLoRay has said...I think the NUMBER ONE reduction is the...
HEADLINER That is why virtually NO cars these days do NOT have them. (...is that a "double negative"?)
