Strange factory interior color combo, or not?

Maybe I should have asked if this is an unusual or rare color combination. Anyways here are some before shots of my '68 GMC's cab and I was wondering if anyone has seen one of these trucks come from the factory, red exterior with a metallic blue interior?

I'm getting ready to re-do the interior, and I think I'm going to keep these weird colors.

I guess theoretically anything could have been ordered from the factory. Rare, indubitably.

Check the SPID to see if it matches the truck. It may have had an interior swapped from another truck.Though I agree any color combo is possible.I've seen a Hugger Orange truck with an Oxblood(maroon) interior, even was listed that way on the SPID.

I like the custom seat cover.

I bet that was a color option, but you never quite know.

BTW, you going to make it to the All Truck Nat's this weekend in KC?

No, I wish I could make it, but my travel expenses are all out of pocket since I went back to freelancing.

I did tell Ryan Manson at CCT and Jim Rizzo at CT, and also Bob Ryder at Truckin' about the All Truck Nats, that I think its one of the best truck shows in the country, but I don't know if any of them are covering it for their magazines.

John, I've seen several Fire Dept. rigs with that combo. even seen a few burbs with the red exterior/blue or green or fill in the blank interior scheme.

I'd definitely check the spid or see if there's a build sheet hiding somewhere (unlikey, but worth a shot).

Re: Strange factory interior color combo, or not?

A few years ago a buddy had a 68 GMC 3/4 ton with pastel yellow paint and seafoam green interior, it was a low miler 100% original truck with color combo listed on SPID. I can't remember the name or code of the paint but have not seen another with the same color. The side trim and hubcaps even had seafoam green detail. And being a GMC the bezel and glove box door were green as well as the column and steering wheel.

FD rigs are usually pretty plain Jane, and so is this truck. The color combo must have been the fleet discount special.

You gotta be missing your truck, it gave me a whole outlook on side-mount spares.

Re: Strange factory interior color combo, or not?

Makes me think that was out in service as a old brush truck. The color of the interior I can live with but that seat is almost been used up and at the next oil change will require just a bit of TLC.

Re: Strange factory interior color combo, or not?

I got the truck from the original owner, he gave it to me for free, but I had to haul it out of his orange grove. Fortunately the old girl fired right up after 5-plus years without running. The gas stinks even with 10 gallons of fresh I've added since I first got the truck.
Here's a shot of the glove box minus the info tag I need.

The owner had a carpet business in Riverside and drove it into LA everyday to haul carpet. I wish I could find some NOS aqua blue shag like he had loosely laid in the cab.

I've got to get back outside and pull the seat, I hope the build sheet is still there.

Thanks an awful lot for the input.

Re: Strange factory interior color combo, or not?

The tach looks really interesting from where I stand, can you give us a closer picture of it?

That color looks just like the interior of my burb - Aqua green.

You can get all the OEM correct color vinyl, fabric, and carpet from:

www.smsautofabrics.com

I got all my stuff from them.

Oh the tach? Yeah that's actually a giant water temp gage. Aqua Green — Thanks for the tip on the OEM materials, I'll check it out.
