Edelbrock 1400 carb vaporizing
Hey all - I'm running 283 small block in my 1983 chevy SWB with a edelbrock 1400 carb. My problem surfaces during hot/warm starts. The engine turns strong but will not start until i press the gas pedal.
I'm thinking about installing a heat shield under the carb. I need some help resolving this issue. let mr what your think Thanks Tony

Re: Edelbrock 1400 carb vaporizing
I put on an Edelbrock 1" phenolic spacer and gained a large margin on the vapor locking issue. I also made sure that my fuel pump return lilne was working, because it tends to vapor lock in the fuel pump also.

Re: Edelbrock 1400 carb vaporizing
I put the edelbrock heat insulator gasket under mine and it completely fixed the problem.

Re: Edelbrock 1400 carb vaporizing
I just live with it on my Qjet. The spacer block would bring my Qjet up enough so the other stock pieces (vent hose from valve cover, heat tube from snorkel, etc.,) would not line up. When hot, I just depress accelerator to the floor and turn the key, wait until fired up, then release accelerator half way.
