Stock rim width

Hi All,

What is the width of stock 16.5" 8 lug (c20 Suburban in my case) steel wheels?

The sticker in the glove box says 8.75 - 16.5 - 8 PR High.
I'm guessing they are 6" width but that "8 PR High" is throwing me off - what's that?

Looking to switch to 16 in steel wheels to get more tire options - but not sure which width to go for (looking to keep the tire size close to stock: 235 75 16's).

Thanks,

TT

Re: Stock rim width

Your guess of 6" width is probably very close. It should be stamped into the back side of the wheel.

8 PR High means 8-ply rated (load range D) Highway tires.

Good choice going to 16s, you'll find a very good selection of tires. For 235/75-16 tires, I would use a 16x7 wheel.

Re: Stock rim width

I think originally you had the 8.75 floatation wheels.

Re: Stock rim width

Thanks guys,

Yes, looking forward to tire selection -- leaning towards the Firestone Destination A/T - I won't really be doing any off-roading but I like they way they look on a truck and seem to get very good (almost unanimous) positive reviews online. Too bad though about the diminishing lack of 16.5 sizes - I just cleaned up the wheels last weekend and they looked great - even with old scraps and scratches.

Best,

Tim
