Why can't I get these brakes bled?

Here is the story, 67 c10 with front discs from a 71. I replaced both front calipers and the master cylinder. Replace both front lines as well. I can't not seem to get a good rock hard pedal, it is way to easy to push to the ground and then it comes back to almost my damn knees! I bench bled the mc when I first got it. I can't find any lines leaking fluid yet I can't get them bled. Clear fluid comes out of each bleeder when I try to bleed them. Any ideas? Any way a line is leaking and it only sucks air in but does not leak fluid? I've been banging my damn head against a wall for like 2 weeks now.

Did you change the combination valve also?

I had same problem I bench bled the MC but it got air in it some how when I switched the hard lines I had to jack the truck up to get the MC level and bled it again and that did the trick. Hope this helps.

are you just now installing the disc brakes, or is this a brake job on an existing disc brake setup?

1. Prop valve question only valid if this is a new setup

2. are the bleeder screws on the TOP of each caliper? IF you have the calipers on the wrong side the bleeders will be kind of pointing down, instead of up. If this is the case you will never get the air out of the calipers.

I had trouble bleeding out my brakes and ultimately built a little pressure bleeder from Ace Hardware parts and bled a quart through, that did the trick.

Well well well, I found the problem I think. My wife was out there helping me bleed the brakes and then she left to go pick up the kids. While she was gone I keep messing around with the truck. I started pumping the breaks and took a 4x4 and propped it against the seat and went and loosened the bleeder screws. Air started coming out so I continued and low and behold, it now has a stronger pedal. I stressed to her not to let go of the break until I let her know I had the screw closed but I guess she didn't listen or something. Of course I can't go and ***** to her or else she will never come out and help me when I need a hand again but oh well, I now know that I bleed the brakes better by myself then with her helping me. The only problem I have not is the brake pedal comes back to far. It's like at my shins almost to my knee when I don't have it pressed in. Is there supposed to be a stop of some sort that stops the brake from coming back so far? Thanks for you guys help, I would of replied but I been out there ever since bleeding the breaks and installing a new power steering pump.

My 72's have a rubber stopper - its about an inch or so thick.

I did not change the combination valve, it was the one that was already on it and I bought the truck with discs already on it.

Just add a litle air to the lines to get that pedal down.

Just kidding of course.

if you dont have the bracket on the bottom of the steering column I think that allows the pdeals to move a lot farther- if I remember right that's where the stop is. Have you had that piece off?
