Drop shocks are too short.
i bought the cpp $600 spring kit with shocks, sway bars, springs, ect. i got 3" front springs and 2.5 inch ccp spindles. everything went on just fine until i got to the front shocks. i hung them on top first, the bottom is about a half a hole off. i jacked up the control arm unit it was off the jack stand. any ideas?

Re: Drop shocks are too short.
I would pull the shock and compare the extended length to a stock shock. If you have 2" drop shocks they should be 2" shorter. Did you compair the springs? Were they shorter than the stcok ones? The other problem that may be happening is your springs not seating in their pockets. When to use springs that are more than 2" drop in the front they are just laying in there (not in their possitions) when the "A" arms are down while the truck is sitting on the stand. You need to physically hold them in place while you jack the lower "A" arm up. WES

Re: Drop shocks are too short.
I had to replace the rear shocks on my '96. The new ones just barely hook up, to the point that I had to put a little pressure on one side of the rear axle to get the bolt in. There was an argument that it wouldn't have any extension and wouldn't ride good. Not a biggee. I needed cushion, not extension. A twin-tube shock is what I needed, and what I got. I have a much better ride, than before.

winner winner chicken dinner,,,,springs where out of place at the top. fixed the problem. now, the new problem, sits too low, tires rub on the fenders. so, i guess i'll start cutting a little at a time off the stockers until i get it right. looks cool though! |

Re: Drop shocks are too short.
That is a big problem with front drop springs more than about 2". Once you start driving the truck they tend to rattle around when driving in situations that your front end extends. This is why I never advise more than a 2" front drop spring. I am glad you got it figured out.

Re: Drop shocks are too short.
Maybe they shipped the wrong shocks. I ordered from ECE and they shipped stock-height spindles instead of the dropped spindles. One phone call and they had the right ones out the door by UPS and the labels for return came in the box with the new ones.
I'd be willing to bet CPP would do the same. If not.......

Re: Drop shocks are too short.
I'm sure if you measure your shocks and give cpp a call they can verify if they sent you the right ones too...
