tilt column shifter lever

i recently installed a factory tilt column from a 72 cheyenne in my 67 stepside. i have not been able to locate a billet shift lever to replace the now oversized factory lever! can someone provide a vendor name for a proper lever arm, and is there a supplier of billet knobs for the radio? thanks

Re: tilt column shifter lever

first of all, very nice truck (from what i can see). the problem you face is that nobody makes one for a 67-72 in billet, but i also wanted one so i pulled a factory one from a 73-87 to compare and a 73-87 billet shifter can be modified with a hand file, patience and a little time without going thru the hassle of searching any further. if you have access to a 73-87 compare them or go to the junkyard and pull to see the similarities. good luck

Re: tilt column shifter lever

it does seem unusual that someone does not make these for our trucks. i bought one which was billet with the exception of the engagement end which was steel and was pinned to the aluminum portion of the shifter arm. i started to do exactly what you suggest but i took it back thinking that i could buy a more correct one! guess that i will have to get the file out and go to southern rods and repurchase.. thanks fly'a for the input.

Re: tilt column shifter lever

Check out Flaming River. I have the whole column but it looks like the lever has the same interface when I look at the old one.
