Gauge Cluster questions
My truck doesn't have the gauges, it has the lights that turn on when something is wrong. My parts truck on the other hand has the gauges, and I want to swap them into my truck.
The clusters Now, I noticed that the pattern of the plug is not the same. My Truck Parts Truck What do I need to do to be able to make the gauges work in my truck? Do I have to swap the whole entire wiring harness inside the cab? or do I just need to cut all the wires and wire in the plug from my parts truck into my truck? I am not sure if the gauges work or not, so I would hate to swap the harness and then find out the gauges don't work. How could I go about testing them before I fully install?

Re: Gauge Cluster questions
You can use a paper clip (or equivalent- there is actually a tool to use) to detach the wires out of the plug, and move them to your desired location. The colors should be the same depending on what they are used for, but they are just in different locations on the plug. Make sure you use the proper senders for the gauges (they are different).

Re: Gauge Cluster questions
Yeah the engine I have in the truck came out of the truck with the gauges, and my lights are on dem because the sending units are wrong. I just want to run the gauges because I can know more of what is going on better than some lights.

Re: Gauge Cluster questions
So I just went down to my grandpas shed and looked at the wireing of both trucks, and the parts truck (The one with the gauges) has double wires on some of the connectors, while my truck does not. So to me it doesn't look as if it is as simple as swapping the wires around to be the same as the other connector.

Re: Gauge Cluster questions
You can always swap out the harness's as well. Tedious work but in the long run you won't be wondering if it's gonna work or if it's gonna "SMOKE"
