Re: please help with truck bed
Pictures would be of great help, then we can get see some other fitment issues that you might have.
First of all, and I'm sure you've already checked, but is the bed actually mounted on the frame? Did / do all the bolts line up? How is the cab to bed gap? Are we talking a long-step to long fleet swap or shorty's? Again a couple pics of the situation would help tremendously.

Re: please help with truck bed
WELCOME FIRST & then I think the easiest way to do this, is to take the pics & download to your desktop. Then go to your topic that you started & do a edit. Go to advance & you will see the attachment tab next to the smily face. You will then be able to browse your desktop & double click to upload to this site. After it uploads, close the window. You can then retype the post & then save the changes. The pics will be there when you go back to it. Howard

Re: please help with truck bed
i'd look closly up in between the inner and outer walls of the bed to see if in fact it is a short box or if theres long welds indicating an attempted cutdown of a longbed to shortbed frankenstein // another possibility is the truck is on a later year frame
