mounted compass - what have you used?
Howdy folks.
I am wondering about mounting up a compass in my '65 c10 and I was just curious what some of you have used or have seen in our types of trucks. Old ones, new ones, retro ones... Thanks. -W |

Re: mounted compass - what have you used?
I puchased a 1964 Impala Wagon years ago, and it had a period correct compass.
It had a round plastic disc glued to the windshield....kinda like the suction-cup of today, only glued. There was an altimeter right next to it, mounted the same way ...

Re: mounted compass - what have you used?
I know this isn't period correct, but I am planning on using one of the temp/compass/auto-dim rearview mirrors on mine

Re: mounted compass - what have you used?
I think this one is actually older than the truck is, but it had been hanging around new in its box for as long as I can remember, so I just put it in.
I've had these kind of compasses in lots of things over the years, and I can rarely get them calibrated exactly right. They're kind of fun to have, though. |

Re: mounted compass - what have you used?
some dude at the carlisle show had a compass and a clock for sale for a 66, new in the box. they cost more than a car i once had. but they were cool.... sorry, that doesn't contribute, but if it weren't for my occasional dumb trivia, the other replies wouldn't appear so smart!

Re: mounted compass - what have you used?
There was a compass on Ebay NOS starting at $1,800.00. If someone buys it, I'll strip my truck into parts and retire.
