Should I do it?
Im thinking about buying my brothers 1970 shortbed. This truck is nice. It has a 1970 built LT1 350, turbo 350 trans and 12 bolt non-posi or ls rearend. The body and paint is outstanding. It is lowered has a/c, p/s, drum brakes, etc. Interior is excellent. I noticed looking under it, that it has a coil spring rear. Is that a drawback or is it how they all came in 70. Also he wants $9000 for it. I know he paid $8500 about 2 years ago and seldom drove it. Think its worth it?

Coils are oneof the things we all love about these trucks. If you look, it is the same set up as the Winston cup cars.
If the truck is worth the $$, then it is a good buy. I honestly feel these were the last trucks GM built that are tough enough to last forever. Welcome to the board. |

welcome to the board. If you do buy it and don't like it. You can easilly sell it for the same amount, if not more.

I agree if you like it buy it. You're brother will probably be happier if you bought it than if someone else did!

i'm pretty sure that you'd like it too. an LT1 350 in these trucks makes for a nice ride. the only draw back is, well, nothing. they are some sweet trucks. also, is it fleetside or stepside? if you can post some pics of the truck. and welcome to the board.

Man that is a MUST buy, cuz if you dont buy and later decide you want one of these trucks, you will never find a deal that good for something as nice as that truck sounds!
DO IT!

boraxman, you mentioned that it has an LT1. Which LT1? The old Vette/Z28 with the camel hump heads and 11:1 compression? Or the new 90's version with the fuel injection and computer?

He says its the same year motor as the truck '70. Im buying it for sure. It has the slant plug heads. It screams. The guy he bought it from said the trans was built to take the power. Im not new to these trucks as I used to own a '70 GMC WSB w/ 402. That motor was transplanted into a 6cyl truck. Wish I would have kept it but this one is way nicer. I'll post some pics later down the road.
