Re: blazer tank in a p/u
Can you put it in the wheel well of the rear tire or bring it up through the bed floor? I don't know where else it can go.

Re: blazer tank in a p/u
It depends on if you drop the truck and your wheel size as well. Mine has a 5" drop with 20's out back and she hugs the fender so no chance to put the filler in the wheel well. I've seen the side marker scenario but I chose to do the trap door in the bed floor....good luck

Re: blazer tank in a p/u
I am looking to do this conversion but heard you cannot run a hidden hitch receiver with the blazer tank. Does anyone have any info on this? i really want the extra gas and extra space inside the truck. But do not want to loose my towing capabilities.

Re: blazer tank in a p/u
I have the early classic hidden hitch with mine, and while space was tight for getting in there with tools, it is doable. I have a rear tank from an early suburban, which is not much different then the blazer tank. I also used the flip down license plate holder. All works with no issues.

Re: blazer tank in a p/u
my tank is from a 76 van, i don't have a hitch but there is plenty of room if i wanted to add one.

Re: blazer tank in a p/u
John, that is freaking awesome! Can you tell us where to get the fill tube and gas cap you used? I'd like to do that to my Longhorn.

Re: blazer tank in a p/u
Stitch, you should have this same area, except your stake posket is more than likely stock and his has been welded shut and had this filler installed in it.

Re: blazer tank in a p/u
The top of the bed side is still stock, other then I removed the stake pocket and with the new filler, it is much larger then the stake pocket, so I cut the filler housing down to fill the retangular hole.
here is some more info in this link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=211579 So, other things you will need to do this are: 1. fuel filler hose (from any parts hose, this is not little fuel line, this is the hose for filling Gas tanks. 2. a section of steel tubing or SS tubing bent into a 90 degree from any muffler shop. 3. the Gas fill assembly that you can get for motorcycles or boats (Hint, boat shops have these for around $50). The only other real mods is to remove the pocket of the stake pocket (hammer and chisel to knock out spotweld, and then at the bottom of the pocket, you will need to cut some clearance for the 90 degee pipe to fit in. Yea, its pretty fun when people that see it, ask why only 1 tie down on your bed? uhm, that is my gas fill. It is funny to see when I am filling it up. standing at the back of the bed the the gas hose. No one has really said anything to me other then the doubletakes. I am sure that if my wife was seen filling the truck, some guys would call her a dumbblonde not knowing that she really is filling up the gas tank. Re: blazer tank in a p/u
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I have been on the fence on leaving my tank in the cab on my Longhorn. Not now, it's going bye bye and I'll put a tank or 2 under the box. Great idea!
