Can my locks be re-keyed?

So, my '73 didn't come with keys for the doors. It did come with two seperate gas keys, an ignition key, a canopy key, and a lug key. My other '79 has door and ignition keys, as well as 2 more gas keys. And I have a Jeep that uses GM keys. In other words I have too many damn keys that all look the same!

So I was thinking...would it be possible for a locksmith to modify the lock cylinders in my '73 so that the keys to my '79 would unlock both? Or would I have to buy a new matching set of four cylinders and change 'em out?

Re: Can my locks be re-keyed?

Yeah, I've tried seperating them, but, inevitably I never have the right set of keys on me when I need 'em. Add another dozen keys or so for the house and my shop...3 more keys for my mailboxes. I feel like a freakin' janitor.

Re: Can my locks be re-keyed?

yes you can get the keys done the same but $$
as you would make your life easier to pick a car key so could a thief have his choice made easier.loose one and somone could take them all.
i use two sets a main and a sub set
main has all keys i could use
sub set has 4 car sets keys and house keys and remotes
and the use a carabener to connect it all
the lighter the keys the easier on the ignition
