advice from the 60-66 guys
I'm am wanting to get a drop spindle/disc brake kit for my 64..The advice I'm wanting to hear,is where is the best place for the money to buy the kit? I want to stay with the 6 lug and see that CPP and POL sell the same style kits,,but at a different price..Is there a differance in the quality of these kits? Can I get some feedback on your guys experiance with these kits?

I say cpp but i think everyone u ask is gona say what ever they happin to be useing i have not heard any thing bad ab out cpp

Sorry to report that my CPP kit that I just purchased did not fit as promised. When I called for help they were less than helpfull. In the end I had to machine thir parts to make them work in my application.

Lucifer -There is got to be more to this story. I have used CPP stuff on at least 8 60-66 trucks with zero problems. And if I did have a problem, I know these guys would make it right. Maybe you had a custom application or a one off build, something because my experience with them has always been more then enjoyable. I dont want to bust your nuts but, I would be interested to know what went wrong. Sean

Do you work there because that was the response I got from them when I had a problem.
The rear caliper set up had too much offset in the bracket and in order to make it work I had to mill off .100 to allow the caliper and pad to go on over the rotor. The front problem was they claimed I could use the existing calipers off my heavy half 85 front suspension on their spindles and rotors but the reality was I needed to buy a very specific 73 caliper...then I could not use the anti rattle pads becasue like the rears the calipers would not clear the rotor. I have done this stuff for over 40 years and I realize sometimes there are problems and you need some help phere and there. The people at CPP only wanted to tell me that they never have problems and that I was doing something wrong. During the whole process I asked if I could return the stuff because it did not fit and the answer was "sure can but it will cost you 20%". Now if thats good service then I am out of line for sure. I do not work there but, still interested in learning what works and what does not. I have done a few of the rear disc set ups, knock on wood, no problems. Your front disc brake problem, I too learned the hard way. Sorry to hear you weren't happy with those guys but, it seems like every one of my custom projects has some sort of a hurdle. early classic! have had mine for 8yrs no problems yet. the kit took 2 hrs to put in!

I have an Early Classic kit also. Everything went back together like stock. They helped me with all the questions I had too. I had one of the local tire shops do the alignment. They said it was a good set-up, which was easy for them. I've had it on for about 8-10 years with no problems. I just got back from Crusin' The Coast which is about 200 miles each way on the highway. Drove 70+mph most of the way....no sweat.--Jeff

There is no doubt that CPP has some issues, but I have heard nothing but positive about fitment. If your not sure which way to go, contact forum member CPPJeff. He is our onsite CPP rep and has worked miracles at getting issues resolved.

They didn't resolve mine.
Had to go elsewhere, called Master Power Brakes in Mooresville NC and they were able to offer technical help over the phone FOR FREE!!!!! CPP guys only offered excuses and told me how great they were. LOL Lucifer Last edited by lucifer; 10-12-2010 at 05:37 PM. |

since money is kinda tight right now,,,I'm am looking at buying components (spindles now,,rotors,bearings,calipers,etc later)...I see that CPP sells the latter,,,but I dont see anywhere they sell just the spindle by itself,,any ideas?
