4wd Jimmy to 2wd Jimmy?
hey fellas..came across a smoking deal this past weekend on a 74 4wd jimmy all original with running 350 sbc (89,000 original miles). the 4wd look is okay to me, but have become more of a lowered guy myself, as i already have two 4wd vehicles in the garage. i know some may call it a sin, but is it possible to convert the 4wd yimmy to a 2wd? and how big of a prob would it be??

I don't know about switching the 4wd frame to 2wd, but I do know that I came across this on craigslist a few days ago. It seems to be the easiest answer to your dillema

Re: 4wd Jimmy to 2wd Jimmy?
something kind of mild..possibly just a 2-4 or maybe a little more. i thought about the same. just finding the front end out of an old c10 somewhere, i actually picked up an old c10 the other day for nothing(just hauling it off a guys land). but didnt know what all i'd have to do to convert it..

Re: 4wd Jimmy to 2wd Jimmy?
Do yourself a favor and just get a 2wd frame or complete truck. It will be too much work IMO when you can pick up something that's already been made from the factory.

Re: 4wd Jimmy to 2wd Jimmy?
Just add a 2wd crossmember to your 4x4 frame and use a flip kit on the rear.
No need to swap frames. If you can find a donor 2wd pickup,... that would be the best. You'll need the transmission, tranny crossmember, and other parts. You can even add aftermarket 67-70 6-lug disc rotors and keep it 6-lug so you don't have to change the rear axles. Or swap in the pickup 5-lug rearend also and make it 5-lug. I love the full top 73-75 blazers!

Re: 4wd Jimmy to 2wd Jimmy?
I have a friend with a titled '81 2WD, body is junk but the frame is straight. I'll ask him what he wants for it, my guess is it can be scored for cheap. Then you can sell the 4WD frame you have to one of the guys that needs it.
