Picked up a solid 71 today
Bought a 71 Blazer today. Very solid vehicle originally from California. Will need rockers but not too much else. I don't like the 6 point roll bar but I'll probably lose it once I start to pull the truck apart. Has original 350/350 (both of which were supposedly rebuilt by the 2nd owner about 20000 miles ago. Runs down the road good. Has an aftermarket gas tank that is about 30 gallons, aftermarket bumper, swing away spare tire. One old repaint PS, PB, AC. Here are a few pics:

Re: Picked up a solid 71 today
I would be real careful with the mirrors.
The ones we had back in the 70's had a carbon steel insert inside that rusted out and then they would flop around in the breeze. I had not seen mirrors like those in 30 years... Nice Blazer - how much do you want for it! |

Great looking truck, here's hoping you don't lower it! (personal preference bleeding through here)

Re: Picked up a solid 71 today
Thanks for the compliments. I am going to do a stock restore. I haven't had time to get started yet, but I started pulling up the front carpet and the floors and bottom of the kick panels are rock solid. two pinholes on the inside of the tailgate. I was disappointed to find that it is a 79 350 instead of the original motor but it does run good. I should have checked the block pad. I'll be picking all of your brains as I go forward with it. Rear bumper will become a sport bumper in the future. I will keep it stock height, change the wheels to probably rallyes (it came with 16" wheels) or just steel wheels. Alden is in Western New York between Buffalo and Rochester. Trying to decide whether I have it painted the original medium bronze or make it a twin to my 70 shortbed and do the hugger orange. Oh well, that decision is a ways off yet.
