Exhaust Manifolds
Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know if "rams horns" manifolds fit tighter than a 80's style rear exit truck manifold? I picked up a set of manifolds from a 80s truck thinking they would fit no problem but......they dont! I don't know if the engine was mounted weird or what. Its a chevy 350 but I have a GMC that came with the big six. I'm running headers now but would like to switch to manifolds without remounting my engine. Does any have any ideas? Thanks! Chris |

Re: Exhaust Manifolds
Rams horns were stock in our year trucks, so they have to fit as long as your engine is mounted in the stock location. If you have moved the engine forward, look at the 67-72 type with the rear-angled outlets.

Re: Exhaust Manifolds
You can use the 67-72 manifolds if the engine is in the stock location or moved forward. Those would be your best bet if you aren't sure about the engine location. The manifolds won't be a problem if you are having pipes made to fit anyway.

Re: Exhaust Manifolds
Did these trucks come with the dumps that go straight down or on a angle?
Does anyone have a good picture of their manifold in relation to the frame and crossmember? I want to see how far off my engine was mounted. The later model manifolds I got are too fat and hit the frame before they can be bolted to the engine. Thanks, Chris |
