Heres a question

I was at the gas station this morning and had a guy come over and look at my truck. He really like it in fact he liked it so much he offered me 9,500 for it. I told him I'd have to think about it so he gave me his card. Has anyone else had this done to them? I find it a little flattering.

Cool. I dont know what kind of truck you have but 9500 seems a little high eh?? Tell him you want an even 10 G's and take the money & run!

Ive had that situation happen a few times, its definately flattering. Unfortunately nobody was ever serious enough to give me their name & number... Then again maybe I was never serious enough to really consider selling?

I have been asked to sell my truck atleast 5 times. I mean seriously asked, like at gas stations and people knocking on my door, because they seen it in the driveway. I never had them give me an offer, I just say no thanks I like my truck. They usually say something like, yeah I had one of these trucks and I should have never sold it, blah blah blah. One guys offered $4500 a few years ago before the new engine or anything, it was pretty much stock, except for tires and wheels. I passed. I guess they ask me if I want to sell it cause it looks like I just drive it, not like I fix it up to keep it.

Give us some details on your truck, like pictures!!!

Heres a few pics. I added a few things after these pics were taken. It's a 82 short box 4x4 350 crate motor with 15,000 miles on the engine, tranny and 93,000 on the truck. Looks alot better in person the color of the truck is hard to catch because of the light and shadows.

Ever since I primered the truck I get offers all the time. Mostly at gas stations or parking lots. One guy was serious too. Man I thought really hard on selling it too. Only to start over with a better truck and more options.

Wow that is a VERY nice looking truck you got there. I'd be too much in love with it to sell it

i love 73-87 Chevy/GMC trucks, but 9500 is absolutely NUTS, especially for a 20 year old truck. yours is a very nice3 truck, but not worth anything near that. if you can find a sucker to pay 9500 for it, TAKE HIS MONEY!

value is in the eye of the beholder if its worth 9500 to the guy that offered him that, then thats what its worth to him. theres no way to decide oh this truck is specificaly worth $6,791.25. what ever someone is willing to pay for it, thats what its worth. and if what it is worth to you is less than what its worth to the guy offereing then sell it

Jason,

Your truck looks great i wouldn't sell it but that's just me!

I've had several offers as well over the years one guy was very serious about buying my truck and right away i told him it's not for sale i told him i will never sell my truck but he kept pestering me so i asked him what's he willing to pay me for it and he told me 10 grand.

I busted out laughing and said are you on crack i paid 14.7K for it new!! With everything i've got done to it my time alone in this truck plus the equipment I told him you dont have enough money pal

I say keep your baby you'll never find another one as nice as she is

HAHAHA, Jason! if you saw my truck right now, its probably worth slightly more than scrap. but, the chassis should be coming back together VERY soon.

i think if it drives and runs as good as it looks, it is well worth the 9500.00 bucks. but i agree with whoever said it, i would love that truck to much to sell it

Age has nothing to do with what it is worth. Any vehicle that has been taken care of, restored, looks good, etc will bring a high price tag...you just have to find the right person.

I love the truck, and if i had $9500 to spend and wanted a truck like smokinn's I would seriously consider it! Think about it, it would probably cost alot more than $9500 to get a similar truck in worse shape in THAT kind of condition. I know when mine is all done I will have way over $10,000 in it...EASY!

Well lets see some pics.

Around here you don't see many older chevy short boxes 4x4 with out any rust. The main reason is because of the salt on the roads. So any truck like 67-87 with out any rust and even in good shape people will pay a little more for. So mine being in the shape it's in will bring top dollar even higher to the right person. Not to mention the 90,000 orginal miles and the 350 crate motor and new tranny with 15,000 miles helps.

I've been asked if mine was for sale a few times. Best time was at a swap meet where I was talking with a buddy and a guy looked my truck up and down (hood was down and latched) and told me that he was looking for a truck like mine. Somewhat straight, and especially the Big 10 version. He asked if it was a real one and I said yes. He told me he'd pay $2500 right there on the spot for it. I laughed and he kinda was taken back for a second. I told him to go to the front of the truck. I went and popped the hood and showed him what I had in it (just installed the ZZ4 -no dress up goodies then). He said "No wonder you laughed. "

I agree that $9500 is alot for your truck but think about how much another truck would cost to get it where your truck is now. I couldn't sell it.
