painting frame

Has anybody heard of por15 from what i have you can brush it on. Has anyone used it or know if it is a reliable product.

any ideas how many quarts it would take to do the frame?

and do you prep it like you would any other painting surface?

1 quart will do the whole frame brushing it on. Put it on thin otherwise it will bubble and look bad. Prep the frame by cleaning it with a wire wheel or wire brush. You can also use POR 15 prep. One thing to keep in mind is that POR 15 is not UV safe so you can't leave it in the sun or it will turn milky white, so you need to spray paint over it. There is a lot I am leaving out but overall it looks really good when it's done. Oh yeah.......DON'T GET IT ON YOUR HANDS!!!!!!!

just put 2 coats on tonight, used foam rollers and brushes, shines great, and the durability is huge from the research I've done, used 3/4 of a quart, plan on 2 more coats and rustoleum gloss black when the fial coat is setting up to protect from the UV damage seems to be the easiest way

I wouldn't put rustoleum as a top coat. no need to topcoat a frame wont see much sun did mine years ago still looks good

Many guys on the board have done this to protect it, but if you have some pics of yours I would like to see them, that'd be one less step for me to do and I like that idea

they have a hand full of diffrent colors to choose from. I never used POR15 but I hear they are very close to the same thing. and KBC was a little less costly.

I actually just used a paint on or spray on product called 'Chasis saver' comes in different colors and applies really well. I chose gloss black and got to say looks good for an old pitted frame!
