62' Pinion Angle

Hey everyone I'm in the middle of swapping rear ends from a 78 chevy half ton and I just need to know what the pinion angle on the 62 trucks would be. I've heard it's anywhere from 3 to 7 degrees but I want to make sure what it is. Thanks

Re: 62' Pinion Angle

I am setting mine at -2. Or down 2 whatever you want to call it. This is gonna really depend on what the truck is being set up to do. Mine is more hot street / race than cruise. Looking forward to other responses.

Re: 62' Pinion Angle

Is this on a longbed or shortbed? Does your truck have coils and trailing arms, or leafs? If it is a shortbed, I would say your pinion should be parallel with the transmission output shaft at ride height. If you have trailing arms and coils, the pinion should be 4 degrees up from the trailing arm mounts.
