Fuel gauge adjustments?

Stock 1972 Blazer with 20 gal stock tank and sending unit.
Gauge shows full when tank is full but at empty(on gauge) only takes about 10 to 12 gallons, typical MPG is around 12 mpg.
Tank is not deformed so I believe it wil hold 20 gallons, just the reading on the gauge appears to be off.
Are there any adjustments possible or is a sending unit replacement/gauge replacement in my future?
Thanks,
Tbruz

Re: Fuel gauge adjustments?

I had played around with mine when putting my truck together, checking the range of motion and the ohms (0-90) even cleaning the gunk stuck in the contacts.... but the thought of having to yank the tank again was too much so I replaced mine.
