5" drop and frame notching
To those you out there that lowered the rear of their trucks 5" (or more) how close is your frame to axle clearance if you did not notch the frame. Did you just make the leap and notch the frame?
I would like to drop my 67 truck 3.5" front and 4-5" rear and in my measurements I come up with 2 3/4" gap between the frame and the axle tube with a 4" drop. I really never liked the idea of cutting the frame on a truck that will have a tow hitch, at least not without alot of frame reinforcement. Comments....

Re: 5" drop and frame notching
don't worry about it with that setup, not sure of the axle clearance but there are plenty of guys running the 4.5/6 drop setup without the c notches even

Re: 5" drop and frame notching
I'm running a 5" rear drop with no issues except my axle tube hitting the exhaust. That's only because the moron that ran my exhaust was...well.....a moron.

Re: 5" drop and frame notching
Running a 6 inch spring and no notch no problems at all of bottoming out.

Re: 5" drop and frame notching
What does adding a 2" lowering block do for the need to notch when running a 5" or 6" lowered spring?

Re: 5" drop and frame notching
Thanks for the response. I talked to Jeff @ CPP and he setting me up with 2.5 drop spindles with 1" drop springs then 4" drop HD springs in the rear. If I want to do the extra 1" in the future I will add a block.
