72 C20 rear end

Hello there been a lurked here for a while, but here goes my first post. I have a 72 c20 with a Dana 60 rear, he drivers side inter bearing locked up and spun the race out of the floating hub. After after calling around to parts store and the GM parts counter. I am stuck at a place where I can't get a hub and the old Dana is in good shape.

So I guess I need some help finding the part. Or to start looking for a new 8 lug rear end.

Any input would be nice.

Thanks in advance ,Adam

Edit* axle tube build number 603322

Re: 72 C20 rear end

It's a leaf Dana.
Driver, pull trailers, haul wood and light farm use.
I have welders and torches. I could do perchs and shock mounts. Cutting tubes no couldn't do that. So I guess if I had interchangeable wheelbase I could get it to work.

I would love to get parts for the rear end that's in I however as it has new bearings and brakes.

Re: 72 C20 rear end

Post a link from your first post into the 4X4 section and ask them to come here and read this post, forum policy is not to double post, I say this because there are more gear heads in there that may be able to offer advice on a source to buy parts on line.

Go to the "#1" on the right top of your post and right click and choose "copy shortcut" then paste into the new post over there.

Re: 72 C20 rear end

I'd look for a later model 14 bolt. It's a beter, stronger rear, and with just some spring perches and shock mounts welded up, it'll bolt in

Re: 72 C20 rear end

Yea pity I got a few hundred in new bearings and brakes in this rear. I was rebuilding the whole thing when I got to the driverside and the inner race fell in place.

Are all trucks the same wheelbase?

Re: 72 C20 rear end

I picked up a 72 leaf Dana 60 from a board member for a hundred bucks. Pay to be a subscribing member and post a WTB. A rear end swap is probably cheaper than parts plus you can swap your new parts to the replacement rear end.
