Has anyone ever bolted up a NV3500 Tranny to a 1968 inline 6 250cuin?

Re: NV3500 Transmission
The NV3500 will bolt up, but here are the major challenges you will have to deal with:
1. You will lose your stock bellhousing mounts. This means you must remove the existing bellhousing crossmember and install a new crossmember farther to the rear. 2. You must convert to hydraulic clutch linkage. 3. All the NV3500s I looked at had electric speedo drives. This means you must either run a Cable-X ($300 +) or install an electric speedo (less than half the cost, if you don't mind the non-stock appearance). After looking at all that, I ended up going with a T5 instead. Ray

Re: NV3500 Transmission
But, aren't the 4x4 NV3500's cable speedo?

Re: NV3500 Transmission
I think I read they are both, the cable hooks to the transfer case and it also has provisions for the electronic on the trans. Someone like Clinebarger could best answer your question, but I think I am correct.

Re: NV3500 Transmission
Raycow is right on. I put an NV3500 in my C20 and love it but the changes are needed. I switched to all Autometer gauges but your looking at about $560.00 for all 7 holes. The clutch master cyl and slave are around $100.00 at Auto Zone but if you have the big brake booster locating the master cyl will be difficult. You will also need a front yoke from a Turbo 400 or the 5 speed and the two universal joint cups will require 2 sizes. If you have a short tail shaft now you probably won't have to cut your drive shaft,I didn't need to. Hope this helps.

Re: NV3500 Transmission
Thanks for all the info, my other question is this, My stater bolts to the cast iron bell housing right now. I see no provision on the NV3500 tranny to mount the stater, how do you get around that?
Thanks Patrick |

Re: NV3500 Transmission
You have a 350 without starter bolt holes? That one is a new one to me, I have been at this a while but I guess not long enough. Jim
