Is this a good combo for engine build?
Ok I know this kinda of thing has been asked but I wanted to know if these particular components will work well with each other. The block is a virgin block and in great condition. it will stay stock bore. I will be running either 441 350 heads or some 305 heads. I am unsure what the casting numbers are at the moment, I believe they are 58cc.
The cam A 268h comp cam. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-CL12-210-2/ The carb and intake. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CMB-03-0124/ This is the combo I have come up with after some homework. It will be a daily driver but I would still like some power when I need it. Any thoughts or changes one would make? I want to keep the rebuild fairly cheap. the exhaust will be flotech headers with cherry bomb glass packs.

Re: Is this a good combo for engine build?
I thought you were going to run roller lifters with a standard hyd cam, Im sure that was a typo. I am guessing your block is a 350? The only thing I personally would do is find some good vortec 350 heads at a local scrap yard, and bolt those on evrything you have listed. Should be a good daily driver. Good luck..lets see some pics..
If you can spend the extra $$ I would run a roller cam and lifters.

Re: Is this a good combo for engine build?
here are a few pics of the motor tear down. this is all I have at the moment of it. I will try and take a few more in the next week or so. It will be a slow build up I have to wait till taxes come up. There is a pic of the exhaust I will be running I am putting it on my current 350 I have in tomorrow. the Older guy in the pics Is a very good friend of mine who has been helping me every step of the way. who will be porting and polishing as well as port matching my heads and intake for me for free by the way.

Re: Is this a good combo for engine build?
Be aware of the kind of pistons you order upon rebuild. 58 cc heads can give lots of compression in a 4" bore with flattop pistons. Though the cam you have chosen will bleed off some pressure on the lower end, todays gas may tend to rattle under a load with anything more than 9.5 to 1 compression. Dropping your compression a little can mean a 40 cent reduction per gallon at the pump due to being able to use the 89 octane instead of 93. All my vehicles require 93 octane and it hurts the pocketbook to feed my old big block.
