Chevy51
I am new here. I am in the process of installing a different front-end on my 51 Chevy 3/4 Ton pickup, and a different rear-end. Is there anyone out there that knows if a 71 Camaro's width would fit under the original bed on my pickup? Any help would be appreicated. Thanks

Re: Chevy51
I can say last week I looked into this, camaro rear ends are about 62-63 inch's so are ZR2 rear ends. Look up Blue Jeep he has good info on them. Both will fit good with out spacers so my research says.
BTW welcome and post picture(we really like to look at the pictures some guys will tell you they just read it for the articles) Joe Last edited by RootBeer 6117; 11-26-2010 at 08:24 PM. |

Re: Chevy51
Here some pictures of my 51 Chevy 3/4 ton, right at the time, I picked it up from previous owner, who had it for over 33years. The picture of the front fender is after I installed 79 Camaro spindle on the 1/2 ton straight axle, with 15x6 wheels. I haven't driven it yet, still working on the rearend switch. Like I said in previous threads, I have a 4wd S10 rearend I am trying to deal with at this present time. I appreciate your trucks on here that I have saw so far.
Thanks |

Re: Chevy51
Hello Ray, in response to you being curious about the 79 Camaro spindles I put on my truck. A friend of mine took them off of a 49 Chevy 1/2 ton that was on there when he got and put a MustangII back on his truck. He let me have them, and I decided to put them on my truck, to get it from the 8lug to 5lug 43/4 bolt pattern. Of course I had to use the 1/2 ton straight axle instead of the 3/4ton axle. When I get a chance I will try to get some pictures. Thanks for asking. I haven't driven it yet, still trying to get the rearend in place.
