Universal GM Crate 350
I recently bought this motor and have a question. On the pass. side there is a plastic cap in the block, on the driver side is a paper cap in the block. I am assuming these are for dipsticks ( I may be wrong) what do i use to plug the one i don't use?

My friend did this some time ago and he went to the chevy dealer and purchased a plug to block of the uneeded hole. They knew exactly what he was talking about. In fact your engine may have come with the plug taped somewhere on the block and you lost it or the dealer lost it.

when you get the motor, in a plastic bag it comes with 2 timing tabs for different size dampers, and 2 dowel pins. take one of the dowel pins and block the hole you are not going to use. they are drilled for left or right dipstick. the dowels are 2 different sizes. use a light coat of sealer and tap it in. if you have lost your pins, you can easily buy them at a hardware or auto parts store.i bought my motor last year. hope this helps...........
