Can someone tell me if this engine is a 283 or 327?

Can someone help me identify the engine in my 67 lwb? I always thought it was a 283/powerglide truck, but now Im not sure if its a 283 or 327. The numbers on the front pad(passanger side) is VO6I3WE. I havnt been able to figure it out from this, and I cant see the rear number, due to a metal line in the way and a ton of oil and crud. Thanks

Re: Can someone tell me if this engine is a 283 or 327?

When I look up the code WE its for a 1965 283ci or a 1969 307ci, which I guess could mean its not the original engine since its a 67 truck? Any ideas?

The block casting number located near the top of the block near the bellhousing just behind the driver's side head would be helpful in id'ing the motor.

Looks like a 283 to me due to the oil filler at the front, no pcv on valve covers, and if it has a road draft tube location at the back of the block.

I thought both the 283 and 327 had the front oil fill and no pcv on valve covers?

yes but the stamping on the front passenger pad reads WE and if i remember right W's are 283 castings, but check the code numbers on the rear drivers side of block as well and that will tell you if its a 283 or 307 for sure.
