Recommended and reasonable mechanics in my area?

After taking her in for an oil change, I was told there was oil leaking from under neath. The guys who changed the oil said it may be gasket related. I also have a slight cooland leak on top, looks like it may be an intake gasket (is that possible?) or a thermostat gasket. I don't really have a room to work on her properly where I am. I'd really like someone reliable and reasonably priced to fix it. It's a 350 crate engine.

They stay very busy with wholesale work from the "auction buyers" but give them a call!

what kind of oil change shop did it? alot of times, the oil leak can be very minor but they try to sell gasket jobs? does your truck dump oil on the driveway? if not, it could be a seeping gasket, seeping gaskets are common, I personally won't change a seeping gasket until there is a decent leak, I have had felpro oil pan gaskets seep from day 1 with sealant and proper install, if you have a therostat gasket leaking, just replace the thermostat with a stant with new gasket, just do it with the truck cold, it is SUPER easy, only 2 bolts.

I haven't noticed any oil on the ground. It was just a run of the mill oil change place. They didn't try to sell me anything.

Would an intake gasket leak coolant? I think it is the thermo gasket and just getting onto the manifold from what I can tell.

intake gaskets can leak, but usually they leak inside and turn your oil into muck. It could leak upward but likely you would see it leaking, look around the thermostat housing after driving to see if you see it wet near the tstat. It is unlikely that the coolant from an intake gasket leak would make it to around the tstat.

Its not thermostat or intake... that would likely be a water leak!

Could be (in order of likely hood)
1. vavle covers
2. oil pan
3. timing chain cover (cover itself or front seal)
4. around fuel pump
5. rear main seal (I put this last because its the hardest to fix)

Both oil and a very small coolant leak. Top post...

Thanks for the help guys! I'm going to try and change the thermo gasket this week and get a better look under neath.

I'd run the rig down to the car wash and clean the engine and engine compartment and then keep a close eye on it to see if it has any leaks showing up. Then figure out what you want to do about it and who you want to take it to if you need to take it to someone for repair. It's just a lot easier to find any kind of leak on a really clean engine in an almost spotless engine compartment than one that has had a few miles put on it without being spiffed up.

I think that will be my next step, thanks! I'm pretty sure the stat gasket is leaking so I'll change that first.
