A/C'd and confused - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am looking to buy a '69-72 p/u and have a couple of Qs
with regard to A/C:
Where are the A/C "registers" (where the air comes out--register maybe the wrong term) on a '72? Are they UNDER the dash vs. IN the dash like several '69s I've seen?
I saw jmil74's 1969 p/u for sale and it has an A/C "register" that's under the dash and looks like a couple of the '72's I've seen. I am confused! I guess I want to know what a factory vs. an aftermarket or conversion type setup looks like on the '69-72 pickups.
Any help would be appreciated.

The factory air has a round ball on each end of the dash, and a rectangular located above the radio.

Most of the units I've seen below the dash are after market products...

The factory location is as stated below in the ends of the dash and above the radio.
Some dealers add on ac was under the dash units. You will notice the ball in the lower left hand side and above the radio and on the passenger side ball.

GM also offered 2 under dash A/C systems that were dealer installed options. The factory installed is the only one that had the vents in the dash.

You can also check out vintage air .com, they have units that install very nice, and you run the registers in the stock location. Just wanted to give you the heads up on this in case you come across a nice 67 - 72 without AC, You can put one of these units in it. Some of the guys on the board has them installed, also call them they will tell you how every thing fits

I saw a '72 on e-bay that had vents below the dash and wasn't sure if it was "stock" or not. On the dealer installed units, is there a way you can tell that.....maybe on the glove box door?
I will check out vintage air and get an idea what it'd cost to add A/C, thanks again

I was told that this is a dealer install, I have not done the research to find out if it is true or not... but here ya go...

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
