aaron youd be better off with a 700r4 since its a drop in the 56 is a hydraulic clutch and the kits to do it are 600-1000 to do it later

I had a T56 for some time. Due to a money crunch I had to flog it to my buddy who installed it in his '80 Cutlass.
The biggest hurdles are the flywheel and clutch. You can use the factory flywheel (93-97 Camaro/Firebird) only if you are using a 86-up SBC with a one piece rear main seal. Otherwise you need to buy a custom flywheel from Centerforce (read $$$). My buddy bought the GM master/slave assembly and adapted it to a truck clutch pedal and - somehow - got it into his car (it used to be auto). He also had to build a crossmember and get the driveshaft shortened. No speedo either since the tranny is electronic, and the head unit is cable driven. He's driving it now. He loves the Overdrive 5th and "Pull-me-over-drive" 6th! Especially since he runs 3.42's and 26" tall tires. [This message has been edited by u2slow (edited February 24, 2002).]
