drop spindles, cupped and plated lower c arms, rear brake lines, bags for front, and probably a new pan hard bar.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
The only thing for certain is I know I need a 4x4. I get off the beaten path in the summer in the dakotas and if it rains, the prairie roads turn to mud.
So, I cant decide if i want to put a 67-72 K20 rolling chassis under my C20, look for a 01 up 2500 chassis with vortec, or just keep the c20 as is and buy a K20 or 2001-2002 2500hd. I love the capability of the newer 2500hds, but love the character of the old trucks. I wonder if i can find a rolled/totalled 2500hd for under 5500?

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
Remove dents, weld up holes and move the gas tank under the bed. It got a new carb this week.
Nasty and dirty engine but this is the first brand new carburetor I have ever bought in my life and I am 64. This engine and trans will come out in the spring and be replaced with the 500 Cad and turbo 400 and this engine will go into an AD series truck I am building to sell. |

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
I don't have an incab tank but have a 35 gallon stainless tank in the front of the bed that takes up the first eight inches. That isn't bad but since the filler neck sticks up and out.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
This is a great question evoking a lot of thought. I am at a point that I need to decide which one of my projects to concentrate on. Logically I should take the two trucks and make one good truck, but I am real hesitant to destroy two drivable trucks to make one.
Neither one of my project trucks are what I want for a final truck and even if I put them both together the result will not be. I want either a swb 4x4 or a C-30. I have been contemplating getting both of my projects in good drivable condition and doing some body work and then selling them while looking for the truck I want. One of my problems is my son and I put one of the trucks together so I really don't want to get rid of it. Now you see my problem. Realistically this is what I need to do. I need to concentrate on my '71 lwb stepper with a 454 to get it to the point it is a reliable daily driver and repair any rust. It won't take much to make it a reliable daily driver by installing a new carb, fixing the manual transmission lub leak and fixing the heat soak starter problem.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
I have new chromoly roller rockers, pushrods, and tall valve covers. The valve covers are aluminum ansen type, they look kewl. I almost purchased those orange "572 Chevrolet" valve covers but they look best on aluminum cylinder heads, in my opinion. I have rear springs that will lower it 3 inches and I am in the process of finding the best gas shocks for that heigth. Any suggestions??? I had some bungs for oxygen sensors welded into the exhaust when I had the new muffs installed. My buddy is a LS-1 wizard and we r gonna get to know the carb on this thing inside and out. I finally installed a suitable throttle cable/TV cable bracket and got that off my back!!! :} Once I get the rear springs installed I can order the correct front springs for a big block at a slightly lower than stock heigth, just to kinda level it out. I bought 3" for the rear cause the ass end is way up there for some reason. I have seen some trucks on here with the same stance. I have another 72' that has a perfect factory stance, I love it. I want the red one just a little lower and level. This summer I will know if my new aluminum radiator is gonna do the trick or not. If not, I will add some aux. fans to the list.

Find the last thing on my brakes ( I think it's the vacuum now) and put deadening material in the cab and switch to vinyl flooring to make it a lot quieter!!!

I plan on coming home from this deployment and "finishing" my truck. Hopefully I will have all the parts ready to go at the end of this tour.
