What all-terrain tires are you running?

I'm trying to broaden my horizons when it comes to tires. I have had many sets of BFG A/Ts and also a few Nitto Terra Grapplers but in my opinion they are just getting too expensive, especially for a weekend vehicle/toy. I have had great success with the two I just mentioned but I wanted to see what you guys were doing. The two vehicles I have in mind see 80% street use with the other 20% being gravel roads, beach, light trail use, etc (no rock climbing or mud bogging of course). What are some tires I should look into, preferably less expensive ones than the BFGs and Nittos. I see a lot of Cooper, Hankook, and Dunlop out there nowadays. What do you guys think???

Re: What all-terrain tires are you running?

I'm running a set of kumho road ventures on my 2004 dodge 2500 cummins with a 5" lift and have 54,000 miles and 4 years on them. I've only rotated them about 5 times and have never had the front end aligned and they have worn perfectly. I've been very happy with them.

Yokohama Geolanders 285/75R16's. Ride great, very quiet and look great. Oh yeah and last a long time. Not to hard on the wallet either. I put a set on my Sons 69 Long Fleet and they had 33K miles on them but they still look like new. The only reason I pulled them off my 2004 2500HD was because I drove cross country in the middle of winter and I wanted a new set of tires. They had just started making a little WA WA noise going down the road on my truck that weighs about 7500lbs and when I put them on my Sons 69 that weighs about 4000lbs they are completely quiet with tons of tread left.

Re: What all-terrain tires are you running?

Thanks for all the responses guys. This is exactly the type of info I was hoping to get. By the way, snow is the least of my concerns. I am more worried about 140 degree asphault melting the tire. So if you think a tire is awesome in every way except in the snow/ice please tell me about it anyway.

The General Grabber AT2 is actually high on my list as far as looks and price go, but until your post I haven't heard from anyone who has actually used/been around them. Anybody else running them? They at least look the part in my opinion.

Re: What all-terrain tires are you running?

I have a set of Yokohama Geolanders on my dakota, I had a balance issue that the tire co said was more due to the rims needing a centering sleeve on the hub, but other than that i have been happy with them on the pavement and snow, but i think they suck a bit on the ice but hey no studs and a pickup bed

Re: What all-terrain tires are you running?

JRBECK you have the old stlye Geolanders i belive and they are an awesome tire and i had gotten over 75,000 miles out of them on my 06 GMC Duramax, they ended up changing them to a less agressive style and look more like a all season truck tire, i run a Sport King A/T on my 72 which from searching around is made by BF and has the same tread design as the BF AT

Re: What all-terrain tires are you running?

I've always been fond of the BFG AT's as well, but like you mentioned they are getting expensive. I like the Goodyear Wrangler MTR's as well and will be running a set on my '69 K10.

These are 33 x 12.50's of 12" Eagle's.

Good luck with your choice.
