Re: Heater box assembly non AC with controls

Hi Again--If you can find the nice clean prurty ones pictured and have a good, non rusted flapper door with a good rubber seal--I am interested in the set that I understands includes:

Non AC 1972 Chevrolet Truck Parts: Inner Box, Outer Box, Control Cables, and Fan Motor

---also could use a near new Dash Control Panel and that pristine wiring harness in the pic at the top of the post---

I live in Beaverton, OR and we could make a plan to meet--esp if you get up here to the Portland area--just let me know how you want this done and your Pay Pal account can go ding, ding ding--if the price is right! THANKS FOR THE WELCOME-- I usually negoitate by phone or in person, so can exhange numbers--if you want-- when we get to the money-- ready to pay to play--

What I am doing is swapping all sheet metal from an AC cab to a non AC cab that has the deepest beautiful red paint I have ever seen that is way worth all this work--In the process I also have ended up with an 11' tall and 9' wide rolling gantry that I may put up for sale sometime that makes body changes a breeze and a legal trailer goes right through--will try to post some pics to this post--but new to this site and very much a rookie--I have tried to put some pics of the pretty paint and the Gantry and the Non AC 1972 Heater Boxes, control cables, and motor I am trying to replace--see the rust on the flapper door--I can drill the rivets and restore to some degree but the rubber seal is also NFG--THANKS--Greg

Rich, I'm not sure which harnees that was. I think it was from a 70 C10 350 AT. This is a old thread. I have so many of these I would have to go through them and see what I have. It might be easyier if you told me what your appication was and then look.

Greg,
Sounds and looks like a cool truck looking forward to seeing more. Is that a bb or sb between the rails. Love the color too. Let me get some pics to verify exact condition and go from there.
Thanks, Tom

Re: Heater box assembly non AC with controls

I'm interested.
I am wanting to get some more pics especially the inside of both of the heater boxes.
How does the rubber look in them? Is there and dry cracking?
Has the outer box housing been painted with some sort of clear coat?

I don't recall selling this stuff so I'm 99% sure I still have it. If by chance I have I'm sure I could dupicate it in equal condition from 15 other trucks still complete.

I'll get a closer look at them and post pics although it could be Tuesday as thay are at the shop and no plans to be there till then. I may go that way before then just not sure of plans. The out side box is not been painted with clear, that's the original look. It come how survived all this time. It may have some fading on the very top. Pics to come to verify everything.

Thanks guys, Tom

Re: Heater box assembly non AC with controls

Tom--nice call on the big block mill--here's a couple of pictures of the party getting ready to start--see the Edelbrock Proflow connectors/cables ready to go through the firewall, I mount the computer inside the cab where the old school 6x9 speaker used to go--also see the partial serpentine belt setup to stop this 550+ HP beast from throwing the old school v-belts--the empty dash pic shows the fun about to start--

Ihave found a new repro outside heater box with a new flapper if needed--lets see what you have next week--have a good New Year--Greg

Re: Heater box assembly non AC with controls

Hi--tore apart my non AC 1972 heater box to see what was up with the flapper that stops working and lets the heat from the heater core in on us all year--very hard to get out all rusty--you have to drill out the 3 three rivets that hold the top plate in and thenremove the hinge pin up and through the body without breaking anything--go it done and then was faced with the torn tip of the rubber that you can not see until this is removed--I did not use a telescoping mirror though--it is seriously and permanently vulcanized on to the flapper triangle and mine is all rusty anyway and would take hours to wire wheel and seal with rust buster stuff and top coat and then would have to fashion some sort of seal with rivets or sheet metal--no way--I quit: good used from one of the fine folks here--or new repro from American Classic Truck Parts--209.00 plus shipping--whoa, the price of "works right". The key for me is knowing what shape the used rubber is when you can't see it to inspect? The toe was cracked and tore off and had disapeared into hot air on mine. Oh, AC cab guys I did not see a repro outside heater box repro in my searches--Happy New Year and Happy Motoring--gwynne

Re: Heater box assembly non AC with controls

I had a nice looking one on my truck. Took it to get painted and some how it ended up "missing" I held $100 that I owed the guy. I would rather pay than to search for another decent one. happy new years!

I found the inner and outer heater housings. Here's pics of the outer housing. It has some surface rust. I could acid dip this if wanted and then rust free. Thanks
