Post Disc brake upgrade

I just purchased a complete set of brakes to upgrade my drums. How much HAS to be changed? Are the A-Arms the same?

I assume I need the spindles on out, anything else?

i just finished my conversion,
what year is the doner spindals?
i used a 1976 1/2 ton. 5 lug.

used gearbox off the 76, but is same as 67.
used centerlink off the '76
new upper & lower ball joints for '76
new inner & outter tierod ends for '76
new brake calipers for '76
new brake pads for '76

used brake booster, proporiating valve from 76, along with brake lines from 76. there should be a slot in the frame infront of each upper a-arm to mount a new front brake hose. i re-routed the rear brake line to the 76. proporiating valve.

on the 76 i had to pull my brake pedal and drill a new hold for the push rod to work correctly. your best bet is to get a 71 disc doner truck. the boosters are the same, and only master cylinder has to be changed.

if you have any questions feel free to email me. i'd be happy to help you with them.

i decided to purchase new conponents on most of mine..might as well..tierods are liek $14, ball joints $15, calipers $13. that all depends on the year too!

good luck. -i think i'm gonna take some pics and make a websight dedicated to the disc conversion on the front.

If you upgrade to the 71 disc brakes on a 68 do you have to upgrade to power brakes to or can i leave them manual.
